If you are aged mid sixties you could have driven trucks in Qld. under the permit system. It was phased out beginning in 1963-64 and finally put to rest early 1966.
The Master Carriers Association were so cranky at what they saw as a valuable business asset being withdrawn by their own Tory right wing government without compensation that they stood a candidate against the Minister for Transport at the next state election.
You have obviously never done hundreds and even thousands of hours driving heavy vehicles under hundreds of bridges, or ever had a momentary lapse of concentration to make such a patronising remark.One of the members on this forum took out his pantec roof on one of those bridges!

On a similar note, about 2 years ago, a truck with a cattle trailer, managed to get himself stuck in three different tunnels in Sydney during the same day. IIRC he didn't have a licence by the evening.
