    Help with bullbar purchase

    Hi all
I have recently purchased my first disco ('97 man v8) and my family and I love it.
I have been reading forums for awhile and found the info very helpful.
We would like to fit a bullbar to ours but will have to wait and save some more coin for the steel, air bag and winch compatible, bar I would like to get. However I have an opportunity to perhaps purchase a cheap used tjm alloy bar that will tie me over for awhile but can not tell if it is airbag compatible just looking at it. (see attached pics.)
I am hoping that somebody might know if this is any good for me as we do have front air bags and from what I have read I would not like to risk any safety or legal issues with the wrong bar.
Any advise/help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

An airbag compatible bar has "crush can" mounting brackets. The mounting brackets are "corrugated" for want of a better description, whereas the bar in your photo has plain flat sided mounting brackets.

For a winch you also need a mounting bracket that fits between the chassis rails, and usually involves mounting the winch feet up, which is not a problem as you can rotate both gearbox and the motor to the required orientation. There is another recent thread concerning bull bars and their cost options.

Not sure if the D1 has crush cans (my old one didn't). Just had actuators/sensors mounted on the chassis rails for the airbags.

Well, mine definitely has them. It also has an ARB "air bag compatible" bullbar which came from ARB with the crush cans attached.

It is also my understanding that air bag compatible bars have the corrugated chassis mounts. Happy to be corrected though.

Does TJM sell crush can replacements which you can adapt to the bar? (or the bar to the cans.)

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
