I think Nick is well aware. AFAIK he is a Prof of medicine (nursing?) at U.Melb.

I think in future all members neet to put their qualifications in their signature line. Also other members who don't have formal qualifications in a field of life should not read or post in those threads.

    Will that be O.K.?

BTW I know many Professors of Nursing, and many of them I have significant concerns about their going anywhere near a patient, but that's only my opinion.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

No problem Lotz of Landies, its good to see that many people understand the beneficial aspects of bacteria as well as the pathological aspects. The thing that annoys me is the idiotic media representations such as that article I commented on. I have used nanocrystaline silver as a topical antimicrobial on infected chronic wounds many times and it is effective (but no better than Cadexemere Iodine and about 6 times the cost, we published this last year) but to suggest that we start coating the interior of cars with ionic silver to kill bugs is insane.

    avoid licking the steering wheel
No chance of me licking 'George's' steering wheel any time soon. Might as well lick the handrails on escalators.

Personally, I'm quite comfortable knowing I'm just a seething mass of bacteria. Is it true there are more bacteria on the average person than there are people in the whole world?

Ti-tree oil would be a cheaper option (though equally idiotic...)...

When out bush, I remember.... eat food with right hand, wipe bum with left, Still alive, so far, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Well I'm definitely not a prof. but isn't there a theory that western civilised kids are getting allergies such as to peanuts, shellfish etc that never existed when I was a kid, because they don't get enough varieties of bacteria?
    Don.
