Call-up ... Tawera Kerr-Barlow gets the call-up from Steve Hansen.

One week after savaging Australian rugby's inability to produce its own stars, All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected a halfback born and bred in Australia.
Tawera Kerr-Barlow will join established New Zealand halfbacks Aaron Smith and Piri Weepu as the All Blacks' No.9s for their northern hemisphere tour next month.
The selection has dashed Australia's hopes of luring the talented Chiefs playmaker home. Kerr-Barlow was born in Melbourne to an Australian mother and Kiwi father before they moved to Darwin. His family moved to Hamilton, New Zealand, when he was 13.
His mother, Gail Barlow, represented the Australian women's rugby team in the mid-1990s.
The 22-year-old has always wanted to play for the All Blacks and has every right to, but his selection further emphasises the changing dynamics of world sport in which eligibility is a murky subject.
The traffic of players chasing starts with domestic teams was lost on Hansen last week when he lambasted Australia for "pinching" Auckland born-and-raised Wallaby Mike Harris.
"You must put the energy and time into development, not just come over to New Zealand and take ours," he said.
