Price comparison of Ashcroft vs Hytuff halfshafts.

I keep forgetting to ask. A friend who is the original 'gunna' and doesn't have the internet keeps asking me to check the answer to the above. He has a Series 3 SWB and wants to fit an Ashcroft difflock but also would need 24 spline shafts.

Might as well throw in mcnamarra axles and rovertracks just for good luck
I got a set of rovertracks last year to suit a D1 and from memory were about around the $500 mark delivered

Is the difflock for the 4.7 ratio diff?

Only the Salisbury had 24 splines on the diff end the Series III Rover diffs only had 10 spline.

The 109 drive flange on the hubs were all 24 spline, while the 88 remained 10 spline. Swapping the flange end is no problem.

I don't know anyone who makes a 24 spline SIII front halfshfts, but Barry at High tough engineering would make up 24 spline specials for the rears and for Stage 1 CV swivels.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Yes it is standard 4.7 diff with 10 spline toothpicks and flanges allround. Difflock and shafts would be for rear diff only.

The last time I bought 24-spline coiller axles, HTE were cheapest, Rover(Roving)tracks slightly more expensive and Ashcroft more expensive again.

However, all of the above probably doesn't help you, as I doubt anyone would have series 24 spline axles on the shelf still? (Unless NOS).

I'm sure he can supply them Serg - just as I am sure the others can as well... My point was that price comparisons for coiler 24 spl halfshafts may not cross over to series stuff.

The only overall difference between series 24 spline shafts and Salisbury coiler ones will be about quarter a kg in weight and about 25mm length. The cost in labour to wind the tail stock in or out on the splining machine shouldn't add much to the cost.
