I strongly suggest that quite a bit of the info in that video be disregarded.....

The implication of torque steer for starters...

I have to say I agree with Dave. Most of that video was BS.

Subarus may be better than most AWDs, however a 1948 S1 would have aced all but the single wheel tests, and any LR with TC would have done as well as the subaru.

I second BS but still an interesting find.

As soon as symmetrical layout (or lack of) is mentioned as the reason for performance differences all credibility is lost.
Apparently the Holden C(r)aptiva is supposed to divert torque rearwards when the front slips too. I guess it would perform just as 'well' i.e. bad.

    Thanks for the video

yeah I think the commentator does not know what hes talking about, however the test is still excellent.

The subaru has a really good torque diversion, the kluger is a POS.

not really a crock, I could just about get a falcon around that track, the suby is awesome but it would not do well off in situations with ruts

I've had a suburu and now own a Defender and I thought it was an interesting comparison... Very tricky people choosing a short wheel based LRD so it looks worse as well ie loss of traction etc and can I just say that no way should the words 'off road' and 'Suburu' be used in the same sentence.. well unless the sentence is "wait until all the Suburu owners start claiming warranty issues because they were encouraged to take their tin boxes off road by the manufacturer"...

and just to show that they know what they're talking about, at 0:50' ...The Defender, with it's "fully independent suspension"....??? (was I ripped off lol) It's all about marketing and the problem is that people believe it.. I would like to see what happens if they put the Suburu on a Defender test track.. Don't get me wrong, as I said I've owned one of these cars and they are a great car.. just not for offroad..

If they had been serious about an apples with apples comparison they should have been doing XV Crosstek vs Evoque but that would have been setting the Subie up to fail.
