    ...Like a Blue Arsed Fly

    I thought it was just a saying,
    but I just caught a fly with my electronic tennis racquet and could see a blue glint, sure enough I just killed one Blue Arsed Fly.

    I never noticed that before - or perhaps I never looked close enough before ??

    There are blue Bumble bees that do look a bit like your Blue bottommed fly [Notice I did not use that naughty word A*SE, not that I would consider this a four letter word ] Admitadly the Blue Native Bumble Bee that fly aroundc my house do not look like your photo, but these a definately a bee, and they are a definite blue.
