Just got the 'you bloody idiot' spiel (re LR ownership) lol

A supervisor at work just noticed what I am driving currently and began the old 'you didn't get another Landy did you' routine and 'I hate to tell you this, but you're an idiot' lol
    Just laughed and walked away.

What does the supervisor drive? Maybe we can all have a laugh here and you can just smile knowingly next time you see him/her.

To each their own, I say.

You could be like everyone else and get a car that's reliable, quiet and has good performance, but these vehicles tend to come at the expense of character, off-road capability and the ability to put a huge smile on the owner's face.

Thus you bought a Land Rover. Our value systems are fundamentally different from theirs.

Sure, we all WANT vehicles that are reliable and never leak, but I'll take a few extra repairs and a wet foot for the ability to look at my car and see 65 years of astonishing history, of being the vehicle used by important people doing important things on a global, human scale.

My car can be sitting bogged in a big puddle in the bush or on the street being used as a toilet by a couple of cockatoos. It still makes me smile like a child.

I even pat his backside in the morning when I walk past to go to work.

People have every right to say we're idiots for buying Land Rovers and we should respect their opinions......for what they fail to understand is that we absolutely love being those idiots.

    Bless 'em.

-Normally the person making the comment drives a toyota or a nissan, I just reply " my grandparents fought in world war two so i wouldnt have to drive a jap car-yours must have been on the other side!" tends to really **** people off, of course i cant say that when im riding my bmw... Some people think i have issues!

A mates uncle and I were talking about our respective 4WDs, various add ons etc.
When I told him about my winch he just said "you'll need it".
coming from the driver of a sahara landcruiser, I told him to remember that when he's waiting for me to come snatch him out

not a clue what he has, dont much care. I am fully aware of the value of say an old faithful ford (el and ba) and fond memories of my two toyota crowns, but I want what I want and Ive had one before, its not like Im going in blind (like the first time) and if it effs up then its only the same risk as any other vehicle. There are no guarantees, such is life

My store owner is a Land Rover fan

He has recently traded his D3 for an Evoque

He has asked about a series for his country property

He regularly asks me how my trucks are going, he was quite impressed I got the series 1 80" too
