How to evict a gecko from our Disco?

Well, I finally got around to making a gekko trap (after being a bit distracted because the daughter had to get her much-loved Great Dane put down because he bit someone for the second time :(), so here it is.
Basically, I just got an ice cream container and slurped honey, maple syrup, jam and sugar on the bottom and wiped it around the sides. The theory is the gekko falls in, gets slippery feet and can't climb the sides to get out.
Also hoping it might trap some of the black ants which are hanging around at the moment.
So, the trap is in place on the floor in the front and we'll see if it works...

Yeah, you could be right. I'm generally tolerant of black ants, since they eat the eggs of white ants, but not in the Disco, thanks.

Try IGA "Fatal fast knockdown" or IGA Signature Fast knockdown fly spray for both the ants and the Gecko ;) I use it on our black ant problem,( they are a sign of rain within 10 days-2weeks) also "Huntsman" spiders will often come into the house just before rain looking for shelter from the elements.

No sign of the gecko in the trap after two days, the alarm hasn't gone off for a week and the ants also seem to have decamped, so it's all good.

I'm going to move the trap into the kitchen cupboard and see if I can catch some cockies.:mad:

An alarm guy told me to wipe Vicks vapour rub around and the smell will drive him away, I do it on my alarm sensors and totally stopped the false alarms when the run over them at night.

Found the ants - they've moved to the carport, which is fine by me, particularly if they keep the white ants at bay.

No cockies have leapt into the kitchen trap yet, but I'll leave it out overnight and see what happens.

This might help with with the ants but not with the missus:p

That's great, but I'm sure the Navigator wouldn't let the ants get that close. She was in the garden the other day and started screaming "Spider, spider - where is it?" After searching I found a tiny, harmless, spider sitting on her shoulder and brushed it off. "You scared that poor spider," I said. Got daggers in return! :D

When we first moved to where we are now,my english born wife went out to the mail box,(flip lid thing on fence post) and came back in saying there is a big spider in it,big, (used to mean 10c size),well went out with can of Mortein and sure enough there was a Very large spider in residence,I emptied the can,it just casually walked out of the L'box and along the fence dripping Mortein :eek: that,was our first encounter with a bush spider,would have had a legspan of 180mm+ and a hard shell-like body of 50c in size.
