    Any frog or toad 'ologists'?

went out to greet the mutts t0night when I got home from work, then started pacing out yard dimensions for future projects when I found this hopping away from me in the dark
Sorry for poor pic, the best I could do at night with my phone

I'm not a herpetologist but I've found the frogs.org.au website is pretty helpful when trying to id frog calls. They have good regional guides which helps narrow the contenders down:

Frogs of Australia > Victoria > The frogs of The Goldfields

It looks most like a pobblebonk - the sac at the corner of the mouth and the banding on the flanks don't seem to match anything else.

The calls are a really good indicator of what is present in a specific spot. There is short recording halfway down the page below of the Pobblebonk call.

Frogs of Australia > Limnodynastes dumerili / Eastern Banjo Frog / Pobblebonk

    hope this helps

Always a good indication you have a healthy backyard.

Eastern Banjo Frog Limnodynastes dumerilii. Also known as Pobblebonk. Plenty of info on the web. Just Google the scientific name.

Thankyou for that, it does seem to match up best., I was worried it might be something that could hurt the puppehs but glad to know he wont
Dont know what he finds appealing in my yard though, it was three parts dustbowl and now its half dustbowl (aka 'lawn' ) and half granite topping that I'll have to whackerpack (should be doing it today but really cant be.... bothered...) Though there is a nice big drain grate thing down the back corner, perhaps it has retreat down there in the moist
