Help Please - Ride to Conquer Cancer

Vanessa (my wife) is participating in the charity ride mentioned below. This has extra meaning to her, given her Dad was recently diagnosed with Leukaemia. Please send this around and encourage anyone you know who is willing and able to contribute. Any donations, no matter how small, would be much appreciated.

I'll be participating in a 2-day major cycling event called The Brisbane
Ride to Conquer CancerĀ® benefiting Queensland Institute of Medical Research
    (QIMR).

I'll be cycling over 200 kilometres that weekend, throughout Queensland's
scenic countryside, with thousands of other Riders. All the proceeds will
go to QIMR, a worldwide leader in cancer research and discovery, and one of
the largest research institutes in the southern hemisphere.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,500. So here's where you come in because I
need your help to do that. Please consider making a donation. Use the link
at the bottom of this email to visit my webpage and support me. Please keep
in mind the commitment I'm making to end this heartbreaking disease, and
the personal efforts I'll have to make to accomplish this.

When I say "heartbreaking," here's what I mean: with 1 in 2 Australians
diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and an estimated 121,500 new cases
of cancer diagnosed in Australia this year, cancer is the second leading
cause of Australian deaths and affects almost 20% of the population. That's
why I'm riding. To do something BIG about cancer. I hope that you'll share
this incredible adventure with me by supporting my fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

The 2013 Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Queensland Institute of Medical Research: Mrs. Vanessa Angus - The Ride to Conquer Cancer Australia

    Regards,
    Ranga

mate thats awesome........i organised a work team for this years ride, we were lucky and had a ton of corporate support.

raising $2500 is a tough gig but the best part is 100% of the donation goes to QIMR.

have you seen my thread on here? hopefully they will chip in again, i certainly will

    good luck with the ride

if vanessa needs a riding partner on weekends give us a yell as wendy and need an excuse to ride more on the weekends.....happy to drop over and have a chat about the ride too.....it by far the best organised multi day event i have attended

    bump.........

I have finally got my works team organised.....last year a number of AULRO members tipped some dollars into my account. I have good corporate support which should get me to $2500, get behind Vanessa. Every dollar counts.

Thanks again Weeds for your support and encouragement.

Ness is feeling a bit deflated about lack of sponsorship. I've refused to let her bough out, and we'll be making one last drive to gather support over July.

As mentioned above, any donation matters - even $1 shows that you philosophically support the fight against cancer.

I do recognise 'charity fatigue', and understand you may have already given all you can afford, so no judgements are made if you can't help on this occasion.

Missed this first time around mate - Just chipped in what I could.

Give Vanessa our best and tell her she is doing a wonderful thing, regardless of the amount she raises.

    Cheers - Gav

Thanks to you Weeds, and all the other generous donations - particularly those form AULRO members, both familiar and complete strangers - Ness obviously achieved both targets of raising the money and completing the ride.

She is indeed a trooper - stubborn as a mule, and truly an inspiration to me.

Hopefully she'll participate again next year, and I'll step up again as chief fund-raiser. The only 2-wheel contraption that I ride those sort of distances have a purring engine attached!
