    Let me see if I've got this right.

    A (singular) 'intruder' entered the base in the middle of the night and made his/her way to a patrol boat, beat up a (singular) sailor who just happened to have unrestricted access to the vessels armoury, and then made off with a cache of weapons.

    Don't know much about matters naval but sounds pretty odd to me.

    Actually the way most media are reporting it may well be a naval person/s is suspected but it does sound bad.

    Having served on smaller vessels this has been an incident waiting to happen for over 40 years. Insider knowledge either past or present would have been needed but very easy to do.
