Great choices Justin, One of my favourite places used to be the Gregory River up near Gregory Downs not far from Riversleigh, Lawn Hill and Adels Grove. Beautiful rugged country with crystal clear running water and in those days prolific numbers of barra and sooty grunter. I made a track with my old S2A trayback into a stretch of the river that they now call "the knobbies" back in about 1974. Was a great place to take the family camping and fishing, lots of Leichhardt fig trees along the banks with great shade all day, shallows and rapids where the kids could swim and play and deep holes in between where you could fish. Numerous rock wallabies in the hills. Used to be nice and quiet back then. And you could always do a run into the pub at Gregory if you wanted some excitement.:D. The O'Shannassy is a tributory of the Gregory and is spring fed from Artesian water where its headwaters are near Camooweal. Back in those days the road from Camooweal went through Thorntonia Station and was bulldust and rocky ridges. Lucky I had a rover back then.
