Brushtail possums will definitely eat ratsak, and it kills them.

We put ratsak in our ceiling as we had a few rats around. The rats took a sachet of the ratsak down under the house and we found four dead rats and two dead possums.
Our mistake was to use sachets of the ratsak, which the rats could carry around.

Our other mistake was to relocate the carpet snakes that we had around.I had to do this after one got in the house for the second time,SWMBO was not real happy, had to keep the peace in the place

We have only had rats and mice around since the snakes have been moved on.

Once had a similar problem living on a farm.
I made bottle traps, caught heaps each nite and they wernt poisoned so made great chook food, there is a sadistic streak in me that loves watching chooks fight over mice
Get a king brown or wine bottle, rest it over a 25lt bucket that is 1/4 full of water.Plug the neck with cheese or bacon and oil the neck of the bottle. The stinking little critters slip off the bottle into the swiming pool and drown. If you have chooks they think its Xmas when you tip the buckets out in the pen

Never had any luck with Talon, peanut butter, traps etc. But TOM CAT sticks work very well. They have a hole through the middle of the stick and you just nail them to a plank or up in the roof and jobs done. The rats and mice then go off looking for water after a munch. However, have had one or two die in a wall cavityBit of a smell for a week but all ok after that.

Do they come with a selection of "doof-doof" tracks?

I have had great success with the crab pot type cage traps. You can get a dozen or more mice a night with the same bait.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I have had great success with peanut butter as a bait.

The problem with conventional traps is that you can only catch one mouse at a time and poison has risks for other animals and children. LandyAndy has the right idea, these work really well as they never need resetting and go on trapping as long as the pests keep coming. Check this out for an example:

Yep, a bucket half-filled with water. Smear honey or peanut butter around the inside on the top to attract them. They fall in, can't get out and drown.

For cockroaches, put honey inside an ice cream container. No water needed. Honey makes their feet too slippery to climb out.
