The Defender has gone.....sick of waiting for all the others![]()
I think so. Latest Land Rover Monthly has a piece which discusses the replacement Defender. Apparently the two biggest markets are UK and Germany with ROW only accounting for something like 3000 vehicles per year.
Changes to the Euro Design regs which take effect in 2015 mean that vehicles sold have to have a soft impact surface for pedestrians which is why we saw the "family nose" on the DC100. There is no way that the current Defender shape can comply with those regs. If you can't sell the current Defender shape into Europe and it doesn't meet US regs either there isn't much future for it.

Oddly enough, what I noticed is missing wasn't the Defender but New Zealand.

Shouldn't one of them be towing a land cruiser???
The Defender's there. Just out of shot, having forged ahead and cleared the way the rest of the family are now safely able to race on and catch up.
They can't change the defender styling. It's an icon. I am sad just thinking about it.... Maybe I should buy a newish one now and keep it for later on.
Maybe the defender was just too busy doing something important somewhere for someone and couldn't be arsed turning up for a happy snap with its snotty nosed siblings
