Mostly black, are they better than the lighter coloured dogs? Which was the one when we were there?
This is he, Ivor, a breeding labrador fron Guide Dogs NSW/ACT who we'll be looking after for the foreseeable future. When he's needed, he'll be whisked away to Guide Dogs to do the deed, then be returned to our care.
He arrived to day. Pic taken with my new Pentax Q:
Others we've had go either short term care or for long term puppy raising have been:
4-mo pup Errol (short term after he killed some chickens so was returned by the first puppy raisers):
Reni (had her from about 10 weeks old until about 14 months old. She'd been returned to Guide Dogs by the previous carers as being a problem child):
Sarge - short term (the previous puppy raisers returned him to Guide Dogs after 3 days)
Eloise - short term (we had her recently whilst her raisers went on holidays):

RichardK
Series IV Matrix Offroad Camper following our Discovery 3 with E Diff, BAS Remap, Mitch Hitch, Uniden UHF, Codan NGT HF, Masten TPMS, Proquip Compressor Guard, ARB Winch Bar, Milemarker Hydraulic Winch, 4x4 Intelligence Rear Wheel Carrier, VMS GPS with Rear Camera,
It's very easy to remember.
Golden = good.
Black = bad
Our own labs were golden - really, they were more blonde in colour like Errol above. He was a true "blonde". He was gorgeous but dumb!
Reni was a great dog and very attached to me but she was full on and always wanted to be the boss. She didn't make it as a guide dog. She was, in their words, "too exuberant"
She might have made a good police dog!
I think it would have been her when you and Dru were here, Richard.

I'm green with envy, Ron. I grew up with labradors and can't wait until 2014 when I plan on getting a house with a garden and a bit of a lifestyle change so I can get my 2 black labs. Boys. With tackle.
Pretty exciting 2013 to get out of the way first though!
nice looking pooch, should keep you company around the house.![]()
He kept us awake last night. He's got kennel cough. Had he been coughing earlier, Guide Dogs wouldn't have brought him to us.

Nice looking Pup Ron!
I wish I had the space and time to have a Doggie...![]()
This is Belle aka Ellie. She's a qualified guide dog who we are looking after whilst her client is away. We've had her about 2-1/2 months.
Last Friday, Ivor, the dog shown at the beginning of this thread qualified as a guide dog. He was too good a dog so they took him back, took semen off him, neutered him, and trained him. He is a daddy - his pups are due next Thursday.
With his trainer:
And with my wife, Elisabeth:
Errol, the third dog above, starts training in two weeks, Sarge, the 5th dog, qualified and is with a client.
Sarge is the middle black lab. (pic courtesy of Timeline Photographics?Guide Dogs NSW/ACT)
