    SILICA - it's an ELEMENT!

    GLASS in fires!

So why, oh why do so many people decide that they can BURN it!?

Just got back from a 4,400 round trip to Brissie. On the way up I camped next to rivers... every campsite had evidence of a fire.... every fire had bloody bottles in it!

On the way back, via the Vic high country the same thing!

PLEASE people, if you want the fascination of a melted bottle.... take it HOME with you! IT WILL NOT BREAK DOWN BECAUSE YOU BURNT IT BECAUSE IT'S AN ELEMENT, JUST LIKE CARBON!

I just tipped a couple of garbage bags full of these molten masterpieces into my recycle bin after carrying them around for between 900 and 4,000 km's.

Tread Lightly...... clean up as you go!

Silica is a compound (Silicon Dioxide), Silicon is the element

Semantics aside though I whole heartedly agree. What is it with chuck everything in the fire?

One of my pet hates and something that I feel is creeping back into our society is littering in general. Australia seems to be getting back to what it was like in the 70's on the road sides.

If you can carry it with you full then take it back empty!

Hi Caroline, yes the car was great all the way back. It met every challenge in the Snowies... and there were some doozies I can tell you

Thanks again to you and Harry for your help i getting hold of a nanocom for me. The new MAF made a huge difference.

Happy New Year to you both and I hope we meet again sometime, somewhere.
