    I wonder how many people on the forum bring out the formula before going up a slope?The only formula I use is the "what if'', &" do I " formula. That is, what is the consequence if I get it totally wrong, and, do I have the experience & skill level to do this. I don't do much hill climbing, Bob

    World's steepest suburban street is 19*, and appears to be open to 2 way traffic.
    That needs updating. We have a hill around here that is steeper than that. In fact I know of several that would be better than that. One I know of for sure is 23 degrees by the sign at the top. Funny enough it asks for users to use first gear descending. Slows you up a bit going up as well. Another they got sick of pulling people up so they tared that section. That is a great hill for checking the compression of a vehicle. Even a dog I owned baulked at that hill. Got about a third of the way up and the dog would not go any further. Another in Belgrave is steep enough that when I turned of the road traveling along the side of the hill into and down the steep road the car bellied out. Was a gravel road at the time. Could not stop the car on the hill. Just slid on the gravel till I slid into a drive. There is a few more steep ones.

    The sign says 23 percent, not 23 degrees.

    There is a big difference.

    23% is a lot less than 19 degrees.

    A friend of mine claims that his driveway is 23° and he drives his Camry up and down it.

    I use low range when visiting - next time I'm over there I'll take my inclinometer and measure it.

    did he say whether he took a run up and drove it at 110
