Nope. A quick search amongst the Nissan Forums (Yes, they DO exist!) yielded this piece.

Patrol 4x4 - Nissan Patrol Forum - View Single Post - No date for Patrol replacement

    - Other way around, the motor was used by Renault in some of their vehicles, possibly with differant electronics....as that was part of the Grenade's 'fuse' mechnism.

Renault has a very good reputation for engine building...they are atleast partly or mostly responsable for the new diesel in the nivara with 550nm

Isuzu has a great reputation for most of their engines, I would be interested to see who is behind the gm/italian diesel in the new colorardo...as it was Isuzu who saved the Chev diesel with the duramax. (could be wrong?)

I would also be suprised if the Dmax was a dud.

Our 3.0 d-max is plasticy inside, and uncomfortable to drive for any distance, but mechanically great, and while not a racy engine, it pulls like a train.

I'd go the DMAX over the Colorado. Isuzu engine is a proven and mostly reliable performer. May not be the quickest, but it doesn't seem to suffer from the issues that plague most of the others.

I'd pick the DMAX over any of the current crop of DC utes (the new model just released last year that is).

The new model addresses the shortcomings of the old model, ie space, comfort etc.
