How good are these vehicles, especially the ex-cab cab chassis diesel autos? Jim

I cannot speak for the autos but the manual isn't bad - the diesel needs a bit of work to get going, but it certainly pulls. One of the blokes at work has one, and he raves about it. So far, dealer support has been good.

They priced fairly well, but still a bit on the basic side - that's not a complaint! I suppose it depends what you want to do with it?

My in laws have one, they love it, i find it uncomfortable and handles not so great, but thats my opinion. They've had no trouble with it what so ever.

I'm looking at getting a dual cab dmax ATM.
It's more of an appliance and nothing special to drive. The engine is a bit doughy, nothing to quick but I imagine it'll be as quick towing 2 tonne as it is unladen.
As for being basic, I stepped out of a 92 defender ute, so vinyl floor mats impressed me.
I'm currently tossing up between the dmax, a new defender 110 dual cab or fixing my old defender and going on lots of holidays.

The Colarado clone is a better vehicle, especialy in the diesel/auto choice. Its an italian GM 2.8lt with more go than the 3.0lt the Dmax and superceded Colarado share.

    Option three sounds good

My friend has one and has had no trouble with it at all, he regularly tows a rather large horsebox with it and it pulls effortlessly.

I think it was designed by Renault.
