Gday all
Pull into longreach today at lunchtime and a cool 41 degrees at 4pm and nice warm 47 degrees.
The QANTAS museum was just awesome going back tomorrow to finish it off. Sadly the stockmans hall of fame is closed till next month so guess will just have to come back again.
Cheers Ean

The stockman's hall of fame is excellent - pity you can't go in
Glad you're enjoying yourself otherwise though. 47 degrees is perfect pub weather!![]()
If you are going thru Winton have a look at the Waltzing Matilda centre. Interestingly Winton not Longreach is actually the birthplace of Qantas.

oh joy..... gotta go through to winton next week :-(
might be to late, but have a steak at the RSL
Yep am stopping in winton tomorrow night. Might even go looking for some Aussie dinosaurs . They do say at the QANTAS museum that winton was the birth place but longreach had the rail connection at that time so it was deemed a more practical place.
I baught a DVD about some guys who followed in mc guiness and gush footsteps by driving a model t ford to Darwin from longreach via the bottom of the gulf and boraloola. This is how the idea for an airline was formed so then QANTAS was hatched. What an amazing piece of history and a great story.
Cheers Ean
