According to a war documentary I watched the other day...

The Jerry Can is called 'Jerry' because it was the style of fuel container used by the German army. The British used the 'Flimsy'. The Jerry can was a significantly better design.

> Three handles - so one man could carry using the middle handle, or two men could carry using an outside handle each.
> better seal on the lid
> more robust, less flimsy

Every plastic jerry can I've seen only has one handle, so a significant step backwards in design compared to the three handle model.

Then when they lost the war, they retreated leaving behind thousands of these cans... Pommy blokes would be trying them out and be like "the Jerry's fuel cans are much better than ours old bean, how did we win with our flimsy things?"

They (the German Army) also had the best helmets, the same design is still in use today, Regards Frank.

Not just "something" right...

German planes had fuel injection first and so could out manouver (and were more reliable than) british/american carb planes.

U-boats...

Unimogs are a million times better than any landrover FC.
