Weeds,
Agree, very sad to hear of Robert G Barrett passing.
I love his Les Norton character and for a complete holiday tune out his books were a lot of fun.
Sad that there will be no more !!!
I am pretty sure i have read all of them at one time or another, "Wouldn't be dead for quids" and "Davos little something" were two of my favorites !!

what a shame. Not a technically good author but his stories and familiar locations made it easy to relate and be entertained.
I splashed out for Les Norton and the Talking Pie crust on audiobook for a drive from Sydney to Adelaide the xmas before. Kept me giggling for hours on the Hay plains. The narrator Dino Marnika has a gravelly slow drawn voice that aptly suits the character of Les Norton. iTunes seems to have only 2 R Barrett audiobooks. Another shame.

News to me too, very sad.
In my mispent youth we had "Keg & Les" nights in our flat at Uni, on Wednesday nights.
We'd get a keg, $5 entry and take turns in having "readings" from Mr Barrett's finest prose. haha
Thanks for the laughs, and getting yobbos and people who wouldn't look at books, reading them.

They frequently found their way out bush as easy light reading material during the quieter moments on exercise.
Sorry to hear of the passing.

yep Godson is my all time favourite and the rest not to far behind.
it was sad to hear about bob's passing due to the "spanish dancer".
i am running out of fav. authors, desmond bagley (pom)....long gone, bob barret now departed that only leaves Clive Cussler (yank) still alive but at a ripe old age and still counting and going strong

to rehash an old post. I thought that some from this post may appreciate the heads up. The publishers for Robert G Barrett have released an audio book on iTunes titled "Still Riding on a Storm". An early piece from Barrett pre Les Norton.
happy giggles, MLD
