I remember the battle beaming in on the nightly TV news!
Every day while the marine base was beseiged, the US military flew in icecream for the troops! Now that is getting the priorities correct.![]()

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Yes me too growing up as a teen in the UK!
My dear old now departed mum ex WW2 RAF who would always say "Oh those poor boys, what their mothers must be thinking seeing all that"!
Thanks for posting that article, brings back vivid teenage memories seeing it all unfold from the safety of an armchair in a council house the UK, all thanks to ITV.

There's a certain irony in that we consider a song of a battle, in which our troops had no part, as an anthem.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
good thing they sent in Woods, Mason and Hudson
Yeah....I do remember it.I think the Battle of Long Tan has more relevance to us Aussies. The story is on DVD, brought out by Time/Life and narrated by Sam Worthington...........a must see, for what our diggers went through!!

On the same Cold Chisel album - the song immediately before Khe Sanh is a one that still maintains its currency. When the War is Over. I studied the ADF Review of Mental Health Care in the ADF and Transistion through Discharge released January 2009 and it is something that still needs working on.
In my research I identified the incidence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in people who have Asperger's Syndrome. I then studied Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for over a year to see if there were any similarities between people with a disability and my interest in returning veterans. I have my grandfather's war records and he was a Rat of Tobruk - he came home a different person to the one that had enlisted. Hence my interest in returned veterans.
Kind Regards
