Soapy water??
Sorry Chops, couldn't help myself.

Gday guys,,
I have a couple of old Jerry Cans that have carried both petrol and deisel. I can't really see any problems with them, but I would like to clean them just to be sure, they will then only be used for deisel.
I'll also be building a fuel cell/tank to sit in the back of the car on a permanent basis, so I'll need to make sure it's clean too.
So my question is, what's the best way to clean them?

As above, hot soapy water, rinse well and leave out in the sun to dry completely.

a little petrol to rinse out the gum
hot soapy water
cold water to flush
a quick rinse with hot water and then leave in the sun or run compressed air through them to dry them/.
