    beware - Online Parts substitution

    Sour Taste in mouth.

Departure Imminent on our 12 month trip and last hour check under 110 for anything I've missed prior to doing the last big service at home.

Noticed Trailing arm bushes NTC9027 showing signs of wear, normally I'd let them go but thought I better order some & change at home rather than later with no postal address or chassis stands etc.

Ordered "OEM" rear suspension bush kit from a trusted Tasmanian Ebay parts supplier, who has been excellent in the past.

Package arrived yesterday , opened to find everything in Bright Blue bags with the dreaded BRITPART logos. OEM in small print on the NTC9027 bags.

$181.50 plus postage , man these things are about 4.00 GBP ex UK. makes me Sick, These previously trusted sellers wont do me the courtesy of a reply.

I should have spent the extra $20 and got Super Pro

Well I suppose thats Karma , coming back to bite me in the bum.

If you paid via paypal, submit a claim, and send them back.

If they're not as described in the listing, then you're fully entitled to do so.

It seems to be a problem when you don't buy over the counter and can actually see the part. Ebay or mail order you're never sure what will actually turn up.
Sounds like the OEM printed on the packaging is the 'OEM part number' rather than highlighting that it's actually an 'OEM part'.

    I feel your pain.

    Allmakes are 3.55GBP, OEM 8.55GBP

BritPart supply both pattern and original equipment parts. If the vendor has supplied the OEM part in Britpart packaging I don't think you have any grounds for claiming a refund.

The LR Direct site gives a listing of the alternatives available for a specific part number:
    Superceded Land Rover Part NTC9027

NTC9027 is a superseded part number and has been replaced by STC618.

    cheers

Meybe so, but your link shows they are £9.07, even if they are OEM I think its a bit of a Rip Off. Other problem is there was no mention of Britpart on the vendors adverts and photos did not show packaging,
Interestingly photos of their other parts for sale do show packaging, esp if its in a Genuine LandRover box or other trusted OEM brand.

really it is deception in my book, If they dont refund I'll resell them on ebay , difference being that I WILL disclose that they are Britpart.

If the seller had given me the courtesy of a reply stating what you had, I'd cop it fairly and put it down to the pitfalls of ordering from ebay.

BTW, when time permits I often order from LR Direct for the very reason that I can select exactly which quality level part I want.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be ****ed if I'd got britpart branded stuff too, and I also buy from a couple of different UK seller so I can pick exactly what I getting.

The dodgy parts descriptions are rife of Ebay. One seller that is often recommend on here describes parts as genuine. What you get is OEM parts. As an example I bought a Genuine Td5 injector harness - what I got was a harness in Bearmach packaging. When I complained the seller told me that the parts are the same as what LR sells but without the LR packaging so he is entitled to call them genuine.

I gotten to the stage where I refuse to buy from eBay unless I can confirm exactly what the make of the part is.

    Good luck with the claim.

    cheers

Yes! I once used a set of Britpart trailing arm bushes (chassis end) in my car as I didnt have any genuine ones and they only lasted 800km and were destroyed.

Genuine ones last around 40000km or so by comparison (in the same car with similar use)

the only parts I've really had let me down over the years have been Britpart,
numerous u-joints, A frame Ball joint - actually let go on the road - ball pulled out of socket, wiper park switch & so on.

You would think something like an INERT indicator or Tail Light lens would be OK - but they fade to clear in about 8 weeks in the Aussie Sun.

Rubbers are very important & yes it does matter.

I will never knowingly buy the crap & have learned my online lesson, if in doubt ask first.
