What some ebay sellers do is stop the auction because it isn't getting anywhere near what they wanted.
It might turn up again at a later date.

Because he has the right to advertise elsewhere as well as on eBay, he has probably had someone give him cash in hand, unlike eBay where the end of the auction doesn't mean that the winning bidder will ever get in touch or , god forbid, actually pay. I always reserve the right to end an eBay auction if I get a cash in hand offer outside of eBay, over the years, selling on eBay, I have had more non-paying winning bidders than genuine payers. EBay auctions are a gamble at the best of times, Regards Frank.
