I had thought about this... and they are closer to my price range... but I need a reliable vehicle to get me to and from work everyday (some days I drive 120kms....) And quiet possibly it would need constant attention... with electrics and mechanicals... rust.....

One of my other thoughts was to go to a 4.2D Patrol... you know the ones that were worth owning....

hmmm.... I saw this one http://www.carsguide.com.au/cars-for...---Sydney.html on cars guide. That is what I was thinking about... that way when I get the nerve up to get it dirty I wont be worried about some gay metalic paint getting scratched.....

Well yeah, but personally I think they command too much money for what the are. The older ones will either have been thrashed and have a set of 35's on them, and/or will still need all the bushes, etc changing as they are getting to that age.

Any older vehicle will need some attention, just depends on which one you want to work on. A new vehicle SHOULD give you less to do, but that is probably a flip of the coin no matter what brand you buy - except maybe a Mazda or Subaru...

As mentioned earlier, buy a car you want to own, old or new. I don't think the brand matters that much, just make sure you like it.

For some reason I will only own Landys now. Not sure if I'm ill, but I just love 'em all (well most) - old or new. They just seem to have something that no other brand has. - soul...

Puts both hands in the air and waves madly!

I LOVE my 90.. I've had it for about 18 months now with no major drama's.. (just a couple niggly things that have been fixed under warranty).. 60,000 kms and I'm still chuffed everytime I get behind the wheel.. you can't put a price on that..

I think I need to do some more talking with the mrs... get her on side with the whole idea. Then start trawling the used car market for a 2011/2012 model for a good price OR look at a new beast. Maybe start trying to get rid of the Ford, if it goes before I get a new car I have been offered a loaner car to tie me over

Might go down to the dealership and have a look at a new 90 and maybe have a drive see what I think about it on the road. If you see a 90 for sale let me know OR if you have a 90 you want to get rid of.....

Please keep the info coming though.... I'd still like to hear from people about what to look for....

Can anyone tell me the overall height of a D90? Is it the same as a Series 3???

I don't think I can fit the D90 into the carport.... might be too tall; I will have to pull the roller door out and 'remodel'
