Whether you will be happy with the 90 will depend entirely on what you need to do with it. But it is worth noting that if you go back forty or fifty years, swb Landrovers (and Toyotas and Nissans etc) were almost universally preferred for private ownership, but by about the mid 1980s the preference had shifted to lwb, and in fact the 90 was not sold in Australia for almost twenty years, and swb Jap versions are quite rare today.
The 90 may be perfect for you, but you will be in a small minority if it does. I don't know exactly why this is, but I suspect it is largely because of the amount of gear we find it necessary to carry round today!
