freelander 2 oil leak
I have just driven from Darwin to Whyalla then across to Streaky Bay towing my camper trailer every thing went really well averaging 10.7 ltr/100k at about 105-107 kph .Then after driving about 100 ks of unsealed road between Whyalla and Streaky Bay stopped for lunch and noticed oil spots under both front guards . Spots seem to be a random pattern but more at back of guard ,cv covers ok and struts dry .Any clues or ideas would be apreciated .

So it's under both guards both left and right? I think you need to see where it is actually coming from otherwise it's just a guessing game. FL2s can leak from the turbo pipe which then drips on the front cross member dripping in front of the wheels. You can solve this by tightening the clamp of the turbo hose that sits about the middle of the radiator. They should've put a better clamp there.

Have you looked under the rear guards as well? You could have just driven over some wet bitumen or similar. The guards of my Range Rover are well coated with bitumen from driving the Hay Plains on a 45 plus degree day.
