I got Tiger Airways ads. Because thats just what want to do right now, go sit on a plane for a few hours.....

I had L4 & L5 go on me...

All because I reached into the back of the car to pick up an envelope.

Put up with it for about 9 weeks, with it progressivley getting worse. I had an MRI, and was booked in for the steroid injection.

Then I passed out from the pain. Came to, with SWMBO standing over me. Ambulance / hospital / steroid injection.... no go...

Passed out again a couple of days later... ambulance / different hospital / nuro surgeon... he booked me in.

I had the op at about 2:00pm on Thursday. At 10:00am on Saturday, I walked out of the hospital.

Since then, I have had days that are bad, but the vast majority are good.

I have managed to do some major renovations around the house since, which would never have been possible without the op.

Consider your options, get a second, third or 4th opinion, and go from there.

All the best, and if you are on pain killers, don't forget that by now, you are hooked, and need to be careful coming off them.... Came the voice of experience...

Thanks for that one Tombie. I haven't heard that one before - I'll go hunt for it on YouTube. Tim Minchin is hilarious, and bloody clever (borderline controversial occasionally....? )

Well, it seems I've been handed the zero option. If I want the nerve damage to get worse, and to perhaps become irreversible, I can leave it a bit longer. Time won't be a healer in this case, only after the surgery. It's "unstable" (whatever that means. Perhaps it will burst into tears at the slightest provocation?) and not quite pointing in the direction it should.

Well, that's the third opinion and we have a unanimous verdict, the jury says be prepared for a new hole or two, and to get intimately acquainted with daytime TV for a couple of months.
