    G'day Robertjs

Sorry to give you bad news but that is a Series 2 or an early 2a,as it has the waisted body line, the Series 1 is straight sided, but it looks like and early one,is it a short or long wheel base? chassis number will be the key for that, first 3 digits of the No. Series 2 SWB =143 LWB=153 Series 2a SWB =243 LWB =253

Indicators for early 2/2a flat front stone tray (not convex curved) single windscreen wiper, It may possibly has a "Sold & Serviced by Annand & Thompson" Breakfast Creek Rd Newstead Brisbane as it has the yellow Land Rover transfer on the right front guard, and the 2 screw type parkers and indicators,(very early Qld vehicles did not have indicators as standard before 1961.

    cheers

    UncleHo is on the ball.

Its not a Series One. But the land rover writing on the right hand front panel is something you don't see much these days... The number plate would have been in that position on the UK ones.

That Land Rover transfer was unique to Annand & Thompson vehicles, they were the Brisbane,S.E,Qld and Northern NSW agents for sales service and spares for many years, wher the company used to be is now a large hole in the ground on Breakfast Crk Rd, I worked for them in the 60's for a short time setting up the Morris 1300/1500 spare stock (on secondment from Leyland Aust, Sydney) they were a very "Old World" company, it might even have a "Annand & Thompson" plate/sticker somewhere in the dash parcel tray area or under the bonnet on the firewall.

Hello and thanks for this bit of interesting history.

Years ago when I was a young kid in the Hunter Valley one of my cousins went jackarooing on an uncles' property near Injune. I remember him coming down to visit and apart from greenhide soles on his riding boots and a stockwhip he was driving a SWB Series 2 canvas top that had black and white Qld number plates and a "bullbar". The family had heaps of Land Rovers, but that one seemed to be pretty exotic as were the tales of station life up north - wild dingoes and all.

I did notice that it had the yellow sticker on the front guard which none of our trucks had. I also noticed a lot of these in western Queensland when I first went up there in the early 1970s. Until your post I hadn't realised that it was a special thing from that distributor.

    Cheers,
