Here's an idea for those wishing to spice up the season....
I know that a lot of people hate F1 and find it boring so this thread might not be for you...but for those who love it, here's an idea I came up with to make the F1 season a bit more interesting. When my best mate's daughter Stella (my Goddaughter) was born 2 years ago, this was the perfect opportunity to ensure we got to spend loads of time together at weekends.
Aside from the non-European races, most of the live start times are Sunday 10pm. So, what we do, is spend the Sunday afternoon cooking at least a 3-course meal (often 5) in the style of whatever country the race is in.....making traditional recipes and drinking traditional drinks. it's a really good excuse to explore the various cuisines of the world and force yourself to learn new recipes.
Last year we got dressed-up as well in stereotypical garb, played traditional music all evening and got into the spirit of the event - little Stella loved it, although I'm sure she thinks we're quite mad.
Highlights:
Monaco - creating a casino and making gambling chips with food
Italian GP - so much meat and delicious wine, pasta, opera...SO good
Chinese - spending hours cooking a FEAST and making dumplings
British GP - ploughman's entree, fish and chips and so many proper beers, in the company of a GB triathlete
German GP - ridiculous amounts of pork and beer
Belgian GP - outstanding outfit from the missus
Indian GP - all afternoon in the kitchen, 5 different curries, homemade breads and Kingfisher beer. Stella trying her first curry (very mild!)
Bahrain GP - Middle Eastern food is AWESOME. I bought a Tajine for the coming season.
I can't wait for this Sunday....A case of VB, lamb chops and snags, singlets and stubbies, Akubras and (probably) Drizabones and Stella in her first pair of uggies.
I'd love to see Kimi getting a few wins, he's just brilliant. Ultimately I want JB to win the title again. Anyone but Vettel would be good for the sport though.
I still think Romain Grosjean is worth keeping an eye on especially if he's learnt some road manners over the break. I'm sure it will be a do or die year for Mark Weber and love him or hate him young Sebastian Vettel has what it takes to take another title.
Sergio Perez might be worth keeping an eye on too now he's in a decent car alongside Jenson Button.
Who would I like to see win the championship ?? One of the Toro Rosso drivers, now wouldn't that be something
