    Gages for Temp, Boost, Pressure

Anyone fitted aftermarket gages to 300TDI Defenders, or any rover probably?

Im looking at what is needed, what would be nice to have and what is a waste of money?

    Anything from,
    Taco
    Boost
    Aftermarket engine temp
    Oil temp
    Oil presser
    Exhaust gas temp
    Low coolant alarms
    Battery gauges

Anything else people have experience with. Let us know.

Also where to get them, how there fitted and what it should cost?

    All help is appreciated.

    Cheers

If your engine is tuned up to make more power some of those things are more necessary then if the engine is completely standard.

I have a standard td5 and I fitted a Madman EMS 2 which does just about everything. I find some things like EGT is not really needed, as in standard form the td5 just never seems to get into the danger zone. although some may say differently I guess and I'm by no means a expert.
Oh well it's still good to know everything is running as it should.

If your handy with tools and have the time it's quite easy to fit these gauges.

One thing I think all engines should have is a low coolant alarm.

On my tdi Defender I've replaced the clock with a VDO oil pressure gauge, the original temp with a VDO and fitted a VDO boost pressure and EGT gauges on ricer style pods above the dash near the ash tray.
At a minimum I'd say all defenders should have an oil pressure gauge.

I've got one of these to measure the engine temp, works really well for $25
AutoSpeed - $25 Temperature Controller and Display!
Got it sitting on the block near the thermostat housing and it usually sits at around 95c when normal driving on the flat.
I think it was someone on here that put me onto it.

    Edit - Only $20 now! I got ripped off ; )

Is this fitted in a Defender or Disco?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

talk to Sprint.....he's probably connecting mine......are you Sprint?
Mine are mounted vertically on my "A" pillar. If anyone needs a piccy I can provide but visualise it simply, one below the other in bullet mounts. Mine are saas , multi colour background illumination, water temp, oil pressure and boost.
