REVS does not exist any more, it is now a national database and you have to pay a small amount ~$3.00 for the service, the link is here: Personal Property Securities Register

I did a check in January and the response was almost immediate but the interface is a bit clunky and it does not provide as much info as the old NSW REVS system.
The result is NOT delivered via email, only the receipt for the fee, you need to download the certificate from the web site yourself.

    Regards,

OK its all a little confusing......the REVS website still looks like it is operating.

i am trying to help out a young fella at work that might be out of pocket soon....

he brought a cars off a now ex-employee that has left the country over the weekend.

he purchases a car for $10 000 cash, is a honda that was purchased for $35 000 onlt nine months ago.....he found all the financing docs in the glovebox

we are now assuming the car still has finance on it

i guess we were all young once, he now understands if it sound too good to be true than walk away

Yep it just said that there was no finance owing on it and that it is currently registered and one other thing, maybe that it hasnt been written off.
But that was free and I think it may have said that it does not guarantee anything.
There is one that cost $3 or $3.70 or something that Tote linked I think.
There is a lot that charge $20+ though.

Yeah, he may be better off in the long run telling someone now. It looks like he will end up loosing it, or at least being asked to pay the owing amount on the finance - how much is owing by the way?

If the car has been involved in something illegal, he may have some difficult questions to answer.

A bugger of a situation, and he has learned the hard way.

Last check I had done on a car was for the Rangie, and was done online and instant - you pay a fee and as long as the date and time on the certificate are within 48 hours of the date and time of the purchase, then you are covered from repossesion or paying for the finaance if it is wrong.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

That is fraud and because the bastard is in UK there is some hope to get him.
    Which is the finance company?
Perhaps it have a branch in UK.
I would go to the police and also ask legal advice. Perhaps the best is approaching the lender and explain the problem to see if it is possible to arrive to some kind of agreement

Find the name of the bugger and see if he have a page in Facebook and make sure that all his friends now what he is capable to do.
