do i really need a new mower??

    my arms been twisted.......

i don't really want to get rid of my old faithful but it appears it off to lawn mower heaven

its an old victor, i brought it back in 1990 and it looked like it was on its last legs, from memory $50. its never had a catcher, the front left wheel/axle is wired into place, the height adjuster is wired at one setting, it hasn't had an air cleaner for as long as i can remember, i don't believe i have ever changed the spark plug, the handle is broken again and it keeps popping out of the clamp when you pull the mower backwards, where does all the fuel go that is left in the tank (its always empty)

but..........the old girl still starts first pull

as raggedy ann does the mowing these days she has just about had enough of my old mower, buggered if i know why

i have settle on a Honda HRU19K1.......not overly fussed about the new safety measures, as soon as you take your hands off the handle the mower engine stops in three seconds

hopefully the lawn wil be mowed by the time i get home

i reckon i might keep the old one for when i'm stuck with mowing duties...so no PM's asking how much

will wait and see if its a pain........only the one gate to open other than that i should have to let go of the handle

we are constantly upping the level of safety here at work, last hing i want to do is short cut things at home......considering the kids are nearly at an age that they should be mowing the lawn

A cut out on the handle after 3 secs. I wonder how they arrived at that figure. It may be for people who don't stop the mower before removing the catcher? If we really want to be pedantic Weeds, your old mower handle shouldn't come apart because you should never, ever pull a mower backwards. One slip & your tootsies under it. Especially smaller kiddy sized.
When is this "safety" stuff going to become realistic?
Next thing you know they'll have cut-out switches on vehicles so if the bonnet is lifted, the engine won't run because of the danger of the naughty radiator fan. (Maybe I shouldn't raise that one or do I get patent rights)

We've got the ryobi 36v electric. Got the whipper snipper to match.

quiet and with safety but no bending over to restart the engine.

I worked it out with fuel for the mower and oil+ fuel for the whipper snipper with our average use every 100 mows (read battery charges) we can afford to buy a new battery.

Recliffe mowers will place a brand new Briggs & Stratton on your base for $250 + labour, The Brighton mower shop will put a recon Briggs & Stratton on your base for $ 150, + labour. Just a thought, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
