Class 1 Marine Engineer
Gday
Thinking about a bit of a change in career in the next couple of years
Is anyone on here a Class 1 or 2 Engineer? AMC is in my back yard so I thought it would be handy to make use of it before I head to the mainland.
Be interested to have a bit of a yak about a few things
Thanks

I retired a few years back, Jock.
Never attended the "College of Knowledge", did my training the old fashioned way as a "journeyman".
One thing I do remember is you need to be sponsored into the college by a maritime company, but, it's a catch 22 situation. Most companies want you to have a position all but assured at the college before they will consider sponsoring you.
That said, it's a damned good life, hard work and long hours at times, but if you love the work, love the sea, it really is worthwhile.
