In no particular order and with an older Discovery in mind:
1. Toolbox (with tools in it...)
2. Bullbar
3. Good Tyres (Cooper STT or ST MAXX)
4. UHF Radio
5. Dual Battery
6. Fridge
7. Mild Lift (2") with decent shocks
8. High Lift Jack
9. Recovery Kit
10. Snorkel
I'll put mine up, in order that I'd do them, to make a vehicle more capable, usable and more enjoyable.
I've got pretty much everything on all my vehicles, (D2, 89 Rangie & 06 Hilux), but my favourite bits of kits are the awning & dual battery/fridge system :D
1. Good set of Muddies (or ATs)
2. 2" Suspension Lift
3. Lockers
4. Bullbar
5. UHF
6. Dual battery system
7. Fridge
8. Spotties & rear work light
9. Roofrack & Awning
10. Sidesteps
Compressor, drawer system & recovery equipment, would be next, but if it's top 10 (mainly on the vehicle), that'd be it.
Compressor & recovery equipment
First Aid kit
Towbar
Bull bar
Driving lights
Side steps
Cargo barrier
UHF radio
Trailer brake controller
Decent hyd. jack
Wheel stud skt & bar
There's also a recovery kit, decent tool kit, front tow bar, elect tyre pump, tyre change/repair kit, second battery, roof bars/rack, navigation device/gps, plus a fridge.

I don't see tools, first aid kit and recovery gear as aftermarket accessories - I see them as a necessity that the owner of an off-road vehicle should have anyway.
My top 10 things I felt I needed to get for the Defender for the sort of trips I regularly do (not in order of preference):
- Bull bar
- Spare wheel carrier
- Steering guard
- Snorkel
- Wheels and tyres
- Roof rack
- Rock sliders
- Cargo barrier
- UHF radio
- Suspension
I think the list for accessories and mods that give great bang for one's buck and make life easier/ more comfortable/ safer is a very different list...probably warrants a different thread. Mine would include things like ExBox, Dual battery and fridge, work lights, 12v sockets, aux fuel tank, bumperettes etc
Bobby
I don't necessarily have all of these but:
Decent tires (BFG AT)
Suspension
Dual Battery system
UHF
Bullbar
Spot lights
Fridge
Tool kit
Spare mechanic... RAVE
Recovery gear.
Hmm. Mine are:
Good tyres
Recovery points
Bullbar
UHF
Nanocom
Camping kit!
Recovery bag (with straps etc)
Tirfor
Dual battery
Fridge.
Which is what I've got on my D2. Except good tyres....
From the point of view of a Nissyota owner
1. Witty rear window sticker calling into question the parentage or genitalia size of the opposing brand owner
2. Rusty fishing rod holder
3. Aftermarket exhaust which allows the engine note to sound comically close to a flatulent bull elephant.
4. 12" lift, with four times as many shock absorbers as the vehicle left the showroom with
5. Bullbar that resembles an old iron bedstead
6. Random cuddly toy to zip tie to the front grille
7. Rear mud flaps - RM Williams or Caterpillar branded
8. Rusty wire roof basket
9. Front driving lamps, must have the ability to melt a cornea at 300m, and have the switch placed in such a way that it takes 10 minutes to find and switch off
10. Aftermarket radar based cruise control system - allows driving no less than 18 inches from the rear bumper of the car in front in perfect safety
no order
1 winch
2 tyres
3 exhaust lagging and heat insulation
4 stereo
5 uhf
6 water and fuel tanks
7 locker
8 glove box
9 compressor
10 bottle opener
What?? Surely you are taking the mickey...
No twin truck stack exhausts? (not connected of course)
No twin white broomstick aerials (CB ) off bullbar with flag mount points
(as they are connected to nothing!)
Seriously though some interesting trends and some items I hadnt considered... Keep them coming.. :)
