So you maybe tipping salt water onto a 12 to 240 volt inverter, what would the O,H and S mob think about that ?

Do you run your doof doof system off 240 volts? Has it got them newfangled thermionic valves in it perchance? "Watch out, I've got The 1812 Overture on,and it's primed and ready to fire!!!"

Yup. Stand well back, wait for the OHS mob to approve your application in triplicate, on how to deal with the environmental, work place safety, political and social issues inherent with putting out a fire at its inception. Much better to evacuate the beach, call the army, navy, police, rescue services and let the experts douse it with a fully ticketed and approved fire appliance. I mean, there should be qualified personnel on hand at all times where dummies congregate. Hey, they don't even have a 500 metre exclusion zone tape around the vehicle! How do they cope???

That fzzt noise a fully isolated inverter makes when doused is sincerely scary.

Anyways, it's only a Nissan, hardly a crisis. His insurance excess is probably less than a tank of petrol, a days driving.

/end wild speculation and silly retorts/

They retreat to their office, drink coffee, evaluate the situation and all whilst bagging out all the sensible people around them.

Not as scary as someone running, screaming down the beach with their hair standing on end and their hands smoking.

I'm not sure what I'd do in such a situation.
I'd consider it common courtesy to assist in such a situation, but these days people can have you in court for this that and the other is it really worth it?
Not exactly an ideal time to be drafting up some sort of declaration to not persecute for damages.

Disco, don't let the lawyers ruin your view of people and the way you want you life to be. Most people are far more grateful for help rather than suing you for trying. I understand it's a common knee jerk response, but have faith in people, and none in lawyers and politicians. They are both self absorbed egocentric power tripping types people generally. I can say this because I work for many, and have a bro in law as one.

Chances are I'd offer to help if I could, I'm more of a act now type person anyway.
I just think it'd be terrible if you did try and help someone and then they turn around and **** you over.

This was on facebook yesterday, from memory the bloke had apparently just finished installing a skyline engine last week, then there were a couple of reasons given for the fire - no idea if either are correct, one was a fuel line and the other was turbo related

There is a page - Rock Report Rainbow Beach - that shows lots of pics of vehicles which have come to grief, but it also have the latest beach reports which are handy.

From what I read sounds like the Turbo detonated, which could have caused any number of ignition sources for any number of flammable items under the bonnet.
