I work on the basis that drivers of new Range Rovers don't even know they are driving a Land Rover and Defender owners know they drive inferior vehicles to Disco's so they feel unworthy.

I'll head back to the D3/4 section now. ...

I started off waving to all Land Rovers - Series, Deefers, Discos, Rangies but alas I found that I only ever got responses from Series and Defenders so that's who I wave to now. Enthusiastically too - if the window's open, the arm goes out and occasionally into a big thumbs up. If the window's closed, the wave is a big full-palm wave through the windscreen and a grin like the a slightly insane Cheshire Cat.

What I HATE is when don't see someone until it's too late. I see them, they're waving at me but I don't have time to wave back as they're already past me. They must hate me an think "non-waving bugger!". Awful.

I have recently gone from a Defender to a Freelander 2. One of the biggest things I miss (apart from the joy I got every time I got behind the wheel of the Defender) is the Defender Wave.

Sadly Freelander's dont quite attract the same type of people and I'm stuck wishing I could wave as a Defender drives by. My girlfriend of course thinks the wave was ridiculous but I loved the sense of community that Defender owners have.

I only wave at other Deafeners as they know what we go through. But I have noticed that the wrong type seem to be driving them these days and lots don't wave back.

I only wave to Defenders - even when I had a Disco. Disco drivers never seemed to want to wave back ever.

I hardly ever got a wave back from anyone when I had the Disco but now I've got a Defender the I get a wave back every time. I think Defender drivers just weren't expecting a wave from a Disco.

This is my experience too - I now only wave at Disco's if there's been good eye contact prior, but even then it's rare to get a wave back I get the impression that they think I'm mad

I'll always give a good wave to a Series or Defender and 99% of the time it's enthusiastically returned

I did a trip from Sydney up through QLD, back down through NSW to VIC, over to SA covering about 6500kms. Saw over 30 Disco's, Rangies and Defenders and waved to them all...only 3 waved back

I still wave to every make of Land Rover when i see one.

I'm gonna make more effort to wave to defender owners and stick up for my fellow disco driving brethren!

I have never recieved a wave from any LR owner of any description, however I have never given one as I've been too worried about coming across as a wierdo!

It's time to break the ice... if you see me wave, i'm not crazy I've just been influenced by this forum!

It is an L322 thing. I waved at every LR or RR driver on the way back from Melbourne in the new Vogue and didn't get anything in return. In my old classic I usually get a pretty good response.

'How enthusiastically does a LR owner wave'?

How broken down are you at the time?
