Have you actually driven one?

I've done 20,000kms in my 2.2 "putrid transit motor" MY12 D90, with over a quarter of that towing a lightly loaded fully enclosed trailer on open highways in outback WA, and am still surprised by how well it goes

. It has a very useful bottom and midrange power package coupled with a 6 speed manual gearbox that makes ringing it out a little futile. The top end is a little flat, but you don't need to go there as it does 110kph with the load easily, including a roof tent on the rack, and will go past 130kph easily for an overtaking manoeuvre. I came from a Nissan Patrol ute with a 6 cylinder 4.2lt Turbo Diesel, so was expecting to be missing some power, but nope - the little 2.2 goes blinking well
