Do you know any nice locations for photo background? (South Melbourne)

    Hi,

I'm in Mordialloc, Vic, and am looking to make some nice photos of my Land Rover Series 1. What are nice locations for the photo's background?

    for example...

    • City lights at night
    • Beach
    • Mountains
    • Valley
    • Waterfall (yeah right!)
    • Tropical green
    • or.....???

Anything that will make a nice background. Of course will need to be accessible by a Series 1. Hopefully not to far away as don't have much time to travel these days...

By the way, are there any beaches in the area the car is allowed on?

    Regards,

    Kris

    Hi

Try Kew Boulevard for overlooking the city. Off chandler highway on the corner that loops the road to the freeway. Up high a overlooks the north side of the city wit clear view to the setting sun. Seen this spot used in car ads a few times.

There lots of spot up the mountains for valleys, rivers, mountain tops but you'll be driving an hour or two. Can't think of anywhere round the 'burbs - too flat.

Arthur's Seat road gives some great views over the bay, as does the lay by at the side of Nepean at Oliver's Hill, just down the road from you. Oliver's Hill gives a good backdrop of the city in the distance on a clear day / evening.

You can get onto the beach near Beaumorris (s?) somewhere, but I can't remember where exactly this is. I've seen a car stuck down there about 3 years ago whisk he was trying to retrieve a jet ski. It's where the big memorial/park is, right on a bend with a big white pub oppisite.
You could also try down Rye, Dromana way, there's a few spots where you can launch a boat from the beach down there. There's also a few nice spots over around Red Hill, Flinders way which could be found whilst driving around. You can get onto the beach at Flinders too, although you can't see the city at all from there.

Braeside park for the "bush" background

Moorabbin Airport in front of the Aviation museum - they've got some great 1950's aircraft/relics there

I reckon down Jetty Road Sandringham
You could get some interesting shots back towards the city at night - worth a look

Some great ideas and locations. Interesting! Anyone have another idea, even a bit further away?

For probably any country drive heading down south towards Phillip Island will find may spots worthy of a pic with the Series in it,, I'm sure the pastures and bush would be proud to have such an iconic vehicle parked there.
There's many turnoffs along the way which lead to some nice spots, and if you called into some of the farms and just asked, I think you'd be surprised at what "back drop" views you could get.
There's a little track which leads up the hill which overlooks Westernport Bay. To get to it you need to turn off just before the Island turn off, and once your at the top, there's lots of spots which overlook the main coast across the Kilcunda area. This pic is from said hill, although I was not looking for an actual back drop shot.
I guess it all depends on what kind of look you want,, Pastoral, Bush, Beach, or maybe an "action" shot.

    Make your mind up!

    • Mt Dandenong viewing area. Night is good too.
    • Base of west gate bridge - for that industrial backdrop. Or over near the Spotswood Science work museum - some great old buildings.
    • Greens point - Brighton Beach - views of Bay and city - anywhere north of Sandringham will pick up city lights - Point Ormond, Elwood, Brighton etc etc.
    • Great Ocean Road has about 54,352 good views! Then turn right and head up into the Otways for another 34,221 good spots!
    • Over near the You Yangs is some great desolate spots - that's where they filmed Mad Max - still looks the same.

Go for a drive and take your camera!!! My bet is if it has a Land Rover in it, I'll like it.

Also please return here and post up some photos for us!!.

Or how about on one of the Yarra Valley wineries? Vines with hills in the background... and while you're there, fill up the back!
