Shove your supercars, the only one I could afford to own in the original post is that FJ Cruiser in the background.

and for old times sake, Police pursuit car, tassie style, love the bar treads

The problem with high-profile cop cars is the high-profile prangs.

At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Looking at the photo it appears that the roof held the shape very well.

In the late 90s Volvo loaned a V70R Turbo Wagon to the ACT police force in the hope of getting a vehicle contract. The Volvo was more nimble and quicker than the standard Commodore and Falcon pursuit vehicles of the time and was a match for WRXs.

However chasing a WRX STi up Northborne Ave the cops lost control after two blocks and wrote the $100,000 car off ending Volvos chance of getting a contract (noting Northborne Ave is a straight road - the main road into Canberra about 8km long).

Later the ACT Police trialled WRXs but the average cop's arse was too fat to fit into the seats - too many Maccas.

The first time I got booked back in my formative years was by a Cooper S. My Morris 1300 had the same basic engine as the Cooper S but was a hell of a lot slower.

My next car was a new Galant 1600 and it a match for the Cooper S - don't ask how I know .

It's because of the amount of equipment now required to be carried on their belts. Apart from being uncomfortable and twisting the lower back in sports type seats, it wears holes in the fabric and affects the operation of airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners.

That, and the volume of equipment fitted to Police vehicles, requires a 'full size' sedan.

Back in 1970 it was the first time for me as well coming from Port Kembla to our home in Maroubra after working a 12 hour shift.
I use to have a 1966 Cortina GT back then.
The Galant and the Datsun 1600 were a very good cars.

    Yeah sure

Uk Police and other police forces have no issues.
