By the way, the 'Wombat Area Guru', Kyle (alien) or his faithful sidekick Mick (Mick Marsh) would probably be best to assist with directions.

G'day stranger
Couple of spots that are easy to do for you with the above covered...
Park at the Garden Of St Earth(Blackwood) and head down the walking track past the toilet.
Off the track on the R/H side is some bollards with some caves on the hill behind, do the usual look at the roof before entering.
Follow the track to the bottom of the hill and there are now some signs on a loop track of what there is to see.
There is the opening of the Impirial Mine shaft(fenced off) and down the creek are remains of the wall that the water wheel was mounted to.
It's a nice walk including one section on the old water race.
Then head back into Blackwood and out from the pub(don't forget to look at the gold stamper opp.) past the caravan park turn left at the end of the blacktop in Golden Point.
On North Blackwood Road you'll cross the Lerdy on a timber bridge and head up the hill, watch for the non-native animals
Turn left into Yankee Mine Track just before the Chettle Road junction.
Follow it down noteing close to the start a cutting to the right, it's from a old tramway used in when Wombat was logged @1900.
Close to the bottom you'll find some mullock heaps.
*The shafts here are up to 100ft deep with no barriers so be careful if walking*
As Yankee Track joins Yankee Road opposite is the remains of Yankee Mine.
The shaft is near the road, concrete and some subfloor as well as part of the chimney remain if you head down to the creek.
Follow Yankee Road down and over the fairly new concrete bridge.
As you wind back up the hill turn right into Old Blackwood Road.
Follow and turn left into Tower Track and follow to the top.
Here you'll find the fire tower and some repeater stations.
The holes next to the fence are the remains of the original fire tower poles that were burnt out(from memory @1927).
Heading down the hill from the tower on the road you'll see a turn off to the left that heads to a farm fence/gate, Stop here.
To your left you'll see some buildings, it's a film set used for a few movies including The Man From Snowy River mini series.
To your right under the trees is an old cemetery @1880 with a reported 250 burials.
Take a walk and you'll find some of the 12 reported remaining grave stones, some are under the trees, others near the far fence.
If you head back to Old Blackwood Road a left turn will head you into Trentham.
The honey man is on the corner before the blacktop.
With the rain we have had Trentham Falls should be worth a look too.
From Trentham head towards Daylesford if you have time.
Bullarto rail station is tucked in on the left as you enter this little hamlet.
This rail line dates back to 1887.
In Daylesford there is mineral springs or shops to see/do.
If your cashed up hit the Chocolate Mill for a nice warm drink.
What ever you decide to do have fun and stay out of the deep holes

Cheers, Kyle.

Thanks for that, yes i still have the old d1 although now she is more a camping rig than bog hole beast. Changed the rear locker to ashcroft, much better than arb i feel. It still does ok on 33s but i reckon the winch will be used a bit now lol.
