Hi there
how bad did it affect your fuel consumption. also what was the matter with the cruiser. apart from it not being a landy?
This is what a LR will do on a Simpson Crossing...

I'd suggest the comparison is a little unfair, I mean, it is a 60 series and that fender looks like its a puma, fair age difference![]()
Hang on - did that 60 Series have any electronics in it?
They're brave, as that model is getting old. So what kept breaking down? I thought it would be an n/a diesel and pretty simple.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
A landrover towing a cruiser would be less fuel than driving them both too.
See the Rocky... It needed no help![]()
No electronics at all...
That 62 is a well maintained unit, serviced regularly by the 'book'.
The guy was steadfast it would be the most reliable vehicle on the trip.
It's transfer broke. Only drive to rear and only if under 15km/h over that it just screeched and went nowhere.
Then it lost all drive, and had to be towed for a few days.
During this time something in the TC seized and it had rear drive only.
This then failed all together.
This was in top of heaps of little (5-6 a day) fixes that were being done to keep it going.
I know, no electronics to go wrong. We had a friend who had his LandCruiser transfer case rebuilt, (without his knowledge - he just got a surprisingly big bill), for something that was apparently a common problem. I wonder if this was something similar?
