    You Tube

I am not the most switched on person in the world when it comes to computors and IT.
I have had a Youtube site for a while now.
All the vids have been public as I am happy for everyone the see them.
What I am now finding someone under different flyby names has copied the vids and reposting them as theirs with their own story attached to them on Youtube as well.
I have now made all my vids private...........I still want to share them, but without people ripping them off as their own.
How do I do that ?
I guess their is a money reason for some one to do this......to get get more hits under their name ??????? am I right ??????

Find some way to put a watermark over them all, then it will be difficult to copy, also comment on the copied videos highlighting them as yours.

Have you written to YouTube asking for the other videos to be removed after copyright infringements?

    Cheers

How do you put a water mark on a home made vid??????
I know there is some way to show the vids and link them to everything, yet you can stop people lifting them straight from the You tube site.???????
I am guessing these people are getting paid for the hits on their site??????

You'll need some kind of a video editing software, that's the lengths of my knowledge in the area though! Sorry!

I download all youtube videos to view as I can't view them direct from youtube due to connection speed.
Some of them I cannot download. It just does not allow me to.
So, Ron, yes you can prevent people from downloading youtube videos.

    Do a search on Google

My videos on youtube are all https:

I think that prevents them being 'easily' downloaded - but no doubt there's a way.

I just sent in a complaint........I see what happens........it was for only one vid and one name of person ripping it off.( all my popular vids have been ripped off and claimed under different names as there own)
It will be interesting to see if they pick up on all the others.
I think it is happening because I am starting to get a reasonable number of hits on my site and someone under different names is trying to make money out of it somehow.
I don't sub scribe to You tube or anything like that , so its not about money for me...............just sharing , but not under someone elses name claiming to own them.
I know with photo bucket you can do a setting which lets everyone view the vid, but not copy it.

Under Australian Law which it is respected by the majority of the countries (forgat about China) you do not need to place the copyright simbol in your work, your work it is automatically protected.
There are some cases, in USA is an example that cases in Court have been lost because the copyright holder did not put in the metafile his/her contact details.
Contact the Australia Copyright Council for legal advice and see if you can get a letter template to send to the infraction people asking to withdraw your work from their address.

I beg to differ. There is no way to stop people who want those videos. The tools are out there...

    You have 2 options:
    - don't post stuff you don't want ripped off (or post it in super crappy low resolution)
    - ask youtube to take down the copied videos, based on copyright violations: http://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/...complaint.html
