These guys will look at in the morning, to at least try and diagnose it. Nice clean workshop, and now derogatory comments regarding LR, which is a good start.

Well, the mechanics had a look and they think the problem is the clutch (at least).

It turns out, that yet again it does pay to belong to RACQ. Being an Ultimate member has resulted in being put up in a nice motel tonight, bus/train to Sydney via Canberra, accommodation tomorrow night in Sydney, and car hire to Brisbane. Oh, and they're also transporting the Defender home to MR Auto! This means I get home by Sunday to fly out to Alice Springs on Monday for work, and the Defender is repaired locally.

The guys at Specialised Automotive in Bega were fantastic. A speedy prelim diagnosis, friendly attitude, LR friendly and familiar, and they even offered to let me keep my camper open to dry out, pack it up for me, and securely store until the car carrier arrives. Was happy to sling them a carton for their help.

Thanks as always to you guys here with helpful advice and support

Hehe, I was actually en route to camping with Tank and VNX205 when it happened! They helped me move it off the road, and we managed a small meetup waiting for the tult-tray
