I had actually called RACV to organise an inspection but their current wait time is 3 weeks+ in that area, figured it was worth the risk and to me, the risk was worth it as luckily I had a few fall back plans and it was a fun little adventure to have. 5pm Hoddle Street and Melbourne CBD is great fun when you're bigger than everyone else and fully insured

Although after calling around a few of the dealerships (not LR dealerships, just general ones) I get the idea that being a **** in Melbourne is kind of par for the course...

One of life's little experiences, in hindsight. I hope the beers were good
My thoughts too. Always a good thing to be able to use the resources at hand to potentially help you out.

Not so long ago I purchase a vehicle interstate and it sounds like I had much better luck than you did. Sorry to hear. It sounds like a nightmare!

In retrospect I agree with all the comments, you should have got someone to take a look, however I admit I didn't do that either. I conceded that worst case it would be an adventure and we would return home empty handed. I'm not sure I will do it again though. There is just too much risk and too easy to convince yourself it will be fine. Hopefully others can learn and not do the same as what we did!

Sounds like things somewhat worked out OK in the end, so that's good to hear.
