    Aussie Malaria vaccine

This is a great news, I have a brother with Malaria so I appreciate this great work done by Queensland Institute of Medical Research with researchers in Melbourne, Canada and the United State.
Statistics show that every 30 seconds a baby died by Malaria and the good of this vaccine is that it is going to be affordable by the poor countries.
Malaria affects a quarter of a billion people around the world every year and over 1000 Australian people returning to Oz with this disease very year.
It is nice to see good news from time to time

I think this is fantastic. No doubt the anti-vaccine crew will be here to tell us we are better off without it.
    Cheers

It is great news but unfortunately the Malaria virus mutates so quickly it will be near impossible to keep up with the mutations.
I've had Malaria and its not fun at all, ended up in Hospital in Zimbabwe after i collapsed in Harare and thought it was just heat stroke.
Then 3 years later i was working in Adelaide and was struck down again.

Let hope that it will be not the case with this vaccine, Professor Good said. quote:
"researchers had focused on developing “sub-unit vaccines” targeting individual proteins in the hope of inducing a broader immune response. “The problem with that approach, shown time and time again, is that the proteins mutate.

“Slight differences in any one protein are often enough to mean the immune response which recognises one strain won’t recognise another. Because we’re using the entire parasite, our approach eliminates that problem.”
