A stolen koala! Some bastards are low!!

This is my mothers Koala, she and Dad raised this (and many others) from a pinkie (which is a very intense thing, minimum 4 hourly feeds for about 5 months!) All the others have been released but this one, KAO, cant be as she has a kidney disorder.

Overnight someone has removed her from their cage in the backyard and then relocked it so that the other 3 in the cage didnt get out! Mum was at home at the time!

This is the koala that Prince Charles was holding in the recent visit to AUSTRALIA.

It is a despicable act especially as Mum has thrown herself back into koala Rescue after Dads death last month, and has been concentrating on them.

Mum is known as an expert on Koalas and holds SA's first koala rescue/rehabilitation permit. She is regularly giving free talks on Koalas and Koala rescue to service clubs and the like
she is also a driving force behind the adelaide koala hospital which is very soon to open fully.

I am very upset about this act by some lowlife...
Hopefully KAO (who spooks easily) will have a go at the theif/ves, a koala can easily deglove a male adult human hand if given the chance...

    It should make fingerprinting easier.[/SIZE]

My first thought reading this is who steals a koala?

Very sad to hear though, especially for your mum at this difficult time
I wish you all the best in recovering the koala

I sometimes wonder what makes people tick. I hope Kao is returned safely.

Why there are so many bastards in this world?
Looking at you mother I also felt very sad, she have put a lot of love for these lovely animals and it is to fair that some low life take it for her.
I hope that the Koala will be returned very soon and hearty.

Sometimes you can only wonder what goes thru some peoples minds.

I hope for KAO and your mum that they culprit is found, hopefully with a few good scratches for their trouble, then the full force of the law comes down on them as well..... A couple of L/R wheels driven over their hands would be a more fitting punishment.

    Cheers Ean

because stupid bleeding heart liberal politicians write rules that prevent people like you and me from eliminating them from the gene pool.

hope you get KOA back and that your mum works it all out ok.

That is a horrible thing to happen, not just to the Koala, but to your mother. She obviously puts her heart and soul into her work.

Just saw that SA Police have reported that she has been returned home:

    SA Police News
“Kao” – a koala which was stolen from the home of a wildlife carer in Trott Park earlier this week - has today been returned home safe and well.
The four-year-old female was taken from a locked cage in the backyard of the home between 7pm on Tuesday night and 9am Wednesday morning.
Sturt Police, who are investigating the theft, were notified this morning that the carer heard a noise in her backyard this morning and when she investigated she found the koala.
The koala had a graze on her paw but otherwise appeared unharmed.
Anyone with information about the theft should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to report online at Home | CSA South Australia.

    Good news guys!,
This morning mum heard a noise at the back gate, she ran outside (as much as a 70+ year old can!) and there at the base of the gate was Kao!!

She has an injured paw but no real damage thankfully! Because of the set up of the block Mum couldnt see the road or driveway and didnt have the key to the new lock fitted on the gate.... She heard a car leave but has no idea what type etc it was nor did she see the person unfortunately.

Kao has been given her medication and seems OK.

    Mum is very happy thankfully!

    Thanks for the wishes folks!

*** EDIT *** Just seen that Basil beat me to it , thanks mate!***
